Re: Family of James COLES (1779-1847) of Luppitt

Well it has been a while! William COLES (1745-1829) of Washfield was the son of William COLES (1723-1763) (= Elizabeth HURLEY) of Culmstock. His father was probably Samuel COLES (1699-?) of Churchstanton and Samuel's 2xG Grandfather was Humphry COLES (c.1623-1688) of Churchstanton. Most of the COLES...

Hi Mike Yes, I know Judith's daughter Louise who I just spoke to. Yes, it is a small world! It is also interesting that members of my ROSEWELL and COLES family lived at Dolish Farm. I will see what information Louise has and then give you a call. Cheers Colin If you want to communicate directly my e...

My 2nd Great Grandmother, was Sarah HODGES (1814-1894), married Samuel Edward COLES at Luppitt in 1835. Her grandfather was James HODGES born about 1756. I would be pleased to learn more about the family and to know whether this is part of your family.

Hi Chris
I have had contact with other CULVERWELL family members.
Descendants of John William CULVERWELL (1826) live in Queensland, Australia.
Descendants of Robert CULVERWELL (1822) live in Western Canada.
I would be pleased to send them your email address if you so wish.

John Griffin

Hi Grahame and Tolliana

An interesting suggestion Grahame. William COLES' older brother, Thomas COLES (bpt. 1823) also adopted the child (William Burrough COLES) of his wife Harriet BURROUGH (nee FARMER). So it is quite possible that William would do the same.

Cheers
